A committee to honor Meyer L. Brown, veteran leader of the Labor Zionist movement in the United States, on the occasion of his 70th birthday, was formed here today. A testimonial dinner for Mr. Brown will be given on December 28 by the Farband-Labor Zionist Order of which he is president.
Mr. Brown is also president of the Jewish Teachers’ Seminary and People’s University in New York. He was instrumental in establishing, as a cooperative venture of the Histadrut and the Farband, the largest multiple insurance company in Israel–Hasneh. In 1933 he settled in Palestine and became managing director of the Judea Insurance Company, Ltd. Upon his visit to the United States on a special mission in 1941 he assumed the presidency of the Jewish Teachers’ Seminary. World War II prevented him from returning to Israel.
