Professor Moses Gomberg of the University of Michigan has been elected president of the American Chemical Society for the year 1931. Prof. Gomberg will assume the office on January 1st.
Professor Gomberg, who is 65 years old, was born in Elizabetgrad, Russia, where he graduated from the Gymnasium. He received the degree of Doctor of Science from the University of Michigan in 1894, and later on studied in the Universities of Munich and Heidelberg. Prof. Gomberg has been on the teaching staff of the University of Michigan since 1893 and has also been connected with the United States Bureau of Mines. For his work in chemistry he received medals in 1914 and 1927. Prof. Gomberg is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and a member of the National Academy of Science.
