Mrs. Anna Rosenberg, whose appointment as Assistant Secretary of Defense was recommended during the week-end by Defense Secretary George C. Marshall, will be sworn in on November 20, it was reported today. Mr. Rosenberg is a well-known labor relations and personnel consultant.
Secretary Marshall said that he knew of no one more familiar with the problems of universal military training and selective service than Mrs. Rosenberg. The week-end announcement also said that Mrs. Rosenberg “will specialize in matters related to manpower and personnel policy, both subjects in which she is an acknowledged authority,” and added that she has “an impressive history of governmental assignments in the fields of labor, manpower and public relations” as well as “extensive experience” with problems of national defense.
Mrs. Rosenberg was born in Budapest in 1902 and was brought to this country by her parents when she was ten. She is a naturalized citizen. She served in many governmental capacities for the late President Roosevelt and the late Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia of New York.
