Rabbi Jonah B. Wise of the Central Synagogue and Dr. George S. Leikin, former chief rabbi of Kazan, Russia, officiated yesterday morning at the Riverside Memorial Chapel at funeral services for Mrs. Theresa Mosessohn, widow of the late Dr. Nechemiah Mosessohn, Jewish scholar and founder of the Jewish Tribune. Mrs. Mosessohn died Tuesday morning of heart disease at the Montefiore Hospital. She was 78 years old.
Mrs. Mosessohn was born in Odessa, Russia, and came to this country forty-three years ago. The Mossessohns lived first in Texas, then in Portland, Oregon, where the deceased was prominently identified with Jewish and general charities. Even after she moved to New York thirteen years ago she was still associated with Portland philanthropies and was honorary president of the local Jewish Ladies Aid Society.
