All remaining Jewish officials in the municipal government of Kovno were dismissed by the City Magistrate following an order of the government.

The reason given for the dismissal was that the Jewish officials are not acquainted with the Lithuanian language. Among the officials dismissed is the attorney, Zimkowski, who is known as a prominent Lithuanian speaker. He is 62 years old.

Altogether there were fourteen Jews among the 270 city officials, while the Jewish population pays 80 per cent, of the taxes in the city.
