The New York City Police Department has distributed 10,000 copies of a checklist of ways to prevent burglaries and vandalism in houses of worship. The list was prepared at the request of religious institutions in the wake of suspicious fires and vandalism that have hit synagogues. Hebrew schools and churches all over the city in recent months. Mayor John V. Lindsay announced the distribution as part of Operation Safe City at a meeting of the Mayor’s Criminal Justice Coordinating, Council. He noted that the police department had established a special investigating unit and had increased patrols in synagogues and churches.
