The New York State Commission Against Discrimination ruled yesterday that the New York office of The Homestead, a resort in Hot Springs, Mass has violated the New York state law even though the office is closed.
The ruling was issued in the case of Mrs. David Kaplan who charged that a reservation at the hotel was denied her and her husband although another party with a non-Jewish sounding name was readily granted accommodations. The commission rejected the suggestion made by the hotel’s counsel to drop the case” because the establishment shut down its New York reservations office.
