The board of directors of the National Council of Jewish Women today adopted a budget for the fiscal year–to end next September 30–of $682,000. This is the largest sum ever appropriated for the organization’s national operations, comparing with $625,000 spent in the fiscal year just ended, and is part of an over-all annual expenditure on education, community welfare, and overseas service work carried on by the 240 branches amounting to some $2,500,000.
The $682,000 sum covers, in overseas service, a scholarship program which to date has financed the advanced studies in the United States of welfare experts from 15 underdeveloped and war devastated countries, sponsorship of the School of Education of the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and of a home for unattached girls in Paris. It also covers community service and education work throughout the United States.
