The old Czarist pogrom slogan, “Kill the Jews!” was sounded yesterday by the Fraenkische Zcitung, a newspaper owned by Julius Streicher, notorious Nazi leader of Nuremberg, who has been in the forefront of all Nazi Jew-baiting activities. The paper editorially called on the Nazis for a pogrom on the Jews.
The Jews of Germany, the paper said in effect, should be made responsible for the anti-German propaganda allegedly conducted abroad by their relatives.
“We must not exercise mercy nor understanding,” the paper exhorts. “Only hanging and confinement in concentration camps will help—lashing them and using the severest Draconic measures of annihilation possible. To liquidate and to destroy are the only terms that should exist regarding Jews and Social Democrats.”
