Greek banks have been ordered by the Nazi occupation authorities to confiscate all the funds on hand belonging to the Jewish communities and to Jewish philanthropic organizations in the country, including the contributions received from Jewish organizations overseas before the Nazi invasion, according to information reaching Greek circles here today.
At the same time the puppet government in Athens has, under Nazi pressure, cancelled the pensions of all Jewish war veterans and former public officials. Greek sources here disclose that the government’s action has aroused wide condemnation among the non-Jewish population who remember the valiant services rendered by Jewish soldiers in the struggle against both the Italian and German invasions.
