Elimination of Jewish business enterprises was planned today by a congress of State accountants at Weimar within the framework of existing legislation through a program of “economic examination” of Jewish firms.
Nazi District Leader Fritz Sauckel of Thuringia, outlining the policy and giving the accountants instructions, said they will act as economic examiners with the duty of investigating commercial and industrial enterprises to coordinate them in Chancellor Hitler’s four-year plan for German economic self-sufficiency.
Describing how he confiscated the Jewish-owned Simson Munitions Works and converted them into a foundation in memory of Wilhelm Gustloff, Nazi agent slain in Switzerland, Mr. Sauckel expressed hope that the economic examiners’ activities would lead to the elimination of Jews from commerce.
He declared that the State trustee examiners would arrange the work to eliminate from the Reich’s economic system “the last remnants of Jewish corruption.”
Jews may not be employed as examiners by order of Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, Minister of Economics and Finance, it was disclosed to the congress.
Newspapers said the examination of Jewish enterprises would begin before Christmas in the textile and clothing industries.
