Negro Student Elected President of Jewish Fraternity in Vermont

William Pickens III, a Negro, has been elected head of the University of Vermont chapter of Tau Epsilon Phi, national Jewish fraternity. Mr. Pickens, an honor student and popular student leader, was the first Negro ever pledged by the fraternity. He will live at the fraternity house.

Tau Epsilon Phi, the largest fraternity on the University of Vermont campus, although a Jewish fraternity, has opened its membership rolls to students of all faiths and has several Christian members.
