New Agency Urged by Rothenberg

Reorganization of the Jewish Agency and of the Zionist Organization of America was urged here at a Zionist meeting last night by Morris Rothenberg, president of the Zionist Organization of America, who played a leading role in the formation of the enlarged Jewish Agency.

“The Jewish Agency in its present form is doomed,” Mr. Rothenberg said, “because of the fact that the distinction between Zionist and non-Zionist has become obsolete. To continue such a division would mean crystallizing a negative attitude which does not represent the spirit of those who have joined the Zionists in the Jewish Agency.

SUGGESTS UNIFIED BODY

“The present form of the Agency should be replaced by a unified body representing every section of Jewry on the basis of the Palestine Mandate,” Mr. Rothenberg continued. “The existing Agency, which is disintegrated, could thus become the leading force it was intended to be, representing the whole Jewish people.”

Touching upon reorganization of the Zionist Organization of America, Mr. Rothenberg said that the organization can no longer confine itself to individual membership.
