A new agricultural colonization plan designed to solve the problem of Jewish immigration into Chile has been forwarded to Chilean Jewish leaders by Senor Don Abraham Azermann, director of the Jewish Center in Chile.
The plan calls for a 3,000,000-peso campaign, to be raised through Jewish organizations here and in other countries through the HIAS-ICA and the Joint Distribution Committee. A loan and colonization society will be founded to finance settlement of the refugees on land. Azermann declared that only such a plan would influence the Chilean Government to permit further Jewish immigration into Chile.
Meanwhile, a new anti-Semitic party, calling itself “El Moviemiento Nacionalista de Chile” (Nationalist Movement of Chile), has been founded, according to reports published in the Chilean rightist press.
General Ariosto Herrera Ramirez, exiled leader of a rightist rebellion against the Popular Front Government who now is living in Mexico, is named as founder of the party. I. Araya, Chilean anti-Semitic lawyer who defended General Herrera during his trial for high treason, will act as “Fuehrer.”
