The Jewish community in Vienna will erect a new synagogue on the site of the “Schiffschule,” the pre-war synagogue which was demolished by the Nazis during the notorious “crystal night” in 1938. The new synagogue will seat 500 persons. It will cost 10 million schillings ($400,000), part of which represents a $120,000 loan granted the Jewish community by Austria.
