The new Turkish Constitution, ratified by a national referendum and now entering into force, continues provisions assuring equality of rights for all citizens, “regardless of language, race or religion.” The new Constitution also guarantees complete religious freedom.
The heavy favorable vote for the new Constitution in the predominantly Jewish districts, indicated that the overwhelming majority of the voters among this country’s estimated 50, 000 Jews supported it.
