New York City’s Mayor Robert F. Wagner has invited Robert Briscoe, newly elected Lord Mayor of Dublin, to attend the city’s St. Patrick’s Day parade and celebration next March 17. Mr. Briscoe is the first Jew in history to hold the Dublin post.
The invitation will be delivered by Michael Mann, a native of Dublin and president of the Irish Jewish Club of the Midwest, whose members are all natives of Ireland of the Jewish faith, and which raises funds for interfaith charities. Following his election Mr. Briscoe, who lived in the United States for some years, received numerous invitations to visit it again.
