The extraordinary session of the Zionist Organization of America’s administrative council ended this week-end with an announcement that the “new policy which the Z.O.A. has adopted in line with the changed situation in Palestine will be made known within a few days.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Emanuel Neumann, president of the Z.O.A., said that certain points of the new policy could be disclosed at this time. These included: 1. A resolution to extend maximum support to the Zionist fund-raising agencies in keeping with the increased responsibilities which the new Jewish state imposes on the American Zionist movement. 2. A resolution to interest American investors in the economic problems and development of the Jewish state.
Dr. Neumann also announced that the Z.O.A. would consult with the appropriate ##es to secure funds for the assurance of the Jewish security forces in Palestine ##n adequate supply of defense material.
Last night at the opening of the council’s session, Dr. Neumann charged that ## ex-Mufti of Jerusalem “evidently enjoys powerful protection from very high quar##, including, apparently, the British Foreign Office.” Charging that the Mufti was ##ind the Arab attacks on Jews in Palestine, the Z.O.A. president emphasized that imediate steps must be taken to provide the Haganah with arms to defend the Jewish Community.
SPECIAL THANKSGIVING SERVICES HELD IN U.S. SYNAGOGUES
Special thanksgiving services were conducted yesterday in synagogues throughout the United States and Canada for the U.N. decision to establish a Jewish State. last night, officials of the Jewish Agency also held a celebration at the Agency {SPAN}##dquarters in New York.{/SPAN}Rabbi Meyer Berlin, president of the World Mzrachi Organization, told a similar celebration of 5,000 Mizrachi members at Manhattan Center this afternoon {SPAN}##at{/SPAN} “the masses of the Arab peoples will not join in any fabricated revolt and will {SPAN}##t{/SPAN} spill Jewish blood.” He predicted that the fighting in Palestine will soon come {SPAN}##{/SPAN} an end and added that the Jewish community in Palestine is able to defend itself against any local uprisings by Palestinian Arabs.
