More than 500 members of Ontario’s Jewish and Arab communities got together recently to celebrate the signing of the historic accord between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization last month in Washington.
The Oct. 14 reception was co-sponsored by the Canadian Jewish Congress, Canadian Arab Federation, Palestine House and Ontario’s prime minister, Bob Rae.
“I didn’t honestly believe that I would see this day,” a beaming Rac told the assemblage.
“There are people in this room who have lived side by side in this province for a generation but have not been able to speak to each other,” he said.
