Oved Ben-Ami, founder and Mayor of Nathanya, Israel’s third seaport, arrived here during the week-end to take part in the closing phase of the United Jewish Appeal’s 1952 nationwide campaign. He will visit 25 major American cities in connection with the emergency drive by the U.J.A. to raise $25,000,000 in cash during the next two and a half months.
The Israeli mayor brought with him a specially inscribed Hebrew Bible for presentation to Mayor Vincent R. Impelletteri, and a number of distinctive articles produced in his native city as gifts for the mayors of Boston, Chicago and other cities. He will make his first American public appearance at the United Jewish Appeal National Leadership Conference to be held this week-end in Washington.
