In a special broadcast on the Palestine radio Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog today called on the Jewish people to prepare themselves spiritually for the early fulfillment of its “2,000-year-old prayer” for Zion’s restoration.
Referring to the UNSCOP recommendations for Palestine, he said they contain some very “painful points” for the Jews, but that they nevertheless represent a “new international chapter in the national revival of the Jews.” Rabbi Herzog castigated with equal vigor the violence of the British Government against the Jewish refugees seeking to enter Palestine and the extremists against the Palestine Government, “Zion will be redeemed by Justice, not by the spilling of blood,” he said.
