The question of Palestine’s payment of £5000000 towards the debt of the former Ottoman Empire, decided upon by the Emer-allied Debt Commission at Constantinople, will, in all probability, be submitted to the Council of the League of Nations, it was stated here today. The delegates representing Palestine at this Conference submitted their report to Sir Herbert Samuel, who is now considering the problem with a view to submitting it to the League’s Council.
Aref Pasha, a member of the Palestine delegation to Constantinople, in an interview granted to the representative of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency stated that the sum of £5,000,000 assigned to Palestine does not include Transjordania. The currency of the payment depends upon the original loan agreement between Turkey and its various editors.
