A young Palestinian stopped for a security check in Jerusalem fatally stabbed an Israeli civilian and wounded a policeman.
The Palestinian stabbed one of two police officers who detained him on the street in the Gilo neighborhood Thursday morning. The assailant escaped, though he was shot and injured as he fled the scene, and then stabbed a 60-year-old Israeli before being tackled and held by another civilian.
The civilian died on the scene. The policeman and the assailant are being treated at Hadassah Ein Kerem hospital.
