British Foreign Secretary Ernest Bevin told Parliament today he could not interfere with the proposed publication of the German anti-Semitic paper, “Der Stuermer.” Mr. Bevin’s reply came after Barnett Janner, Laborite M.P., asked whether the Foreign Secretary knew that the printer of “this horrible pornographic paper, widely circulated during the Nazi period, has intimated that he will resume publication.
Mr. Janner asked Mr. Bevin to “see that even the name of the paper is not used because it stinks in the nostrils of every decent person.” The British Foreign Secretary replied, however, that he could not “interfere in this business now.”
