Pinchas Rutenberg, chairman of the Jewish National Council, this morning officially submitted to High Commissioner Chancellor the Council’s official protest against the British government’s new statement of its future Palestine policy with a request that a copy of the protest be forwarded to His Majesty’s Government.
The protest declares that the Council has no confidence in a British administration governed by this statement and announces that the Council will not take part in nor will it recognize any parliamentary institution set up to prevent the Jews from rebuilding their country.

The official protest reads as follows: “We have no confidence in a British administration governed by this policy. We will not take any part in nor shall we recognize any parliamentary institution set up to prevent us from rebuilding or country.”
Pinchas Rutenberg, who has been given wide powers by the Jewish National Council to act on behalf of united Palestine Jewry is the head of the Palestine Electric Corporation, the most important enterprise which has been created in Palestine since the issuance of the Balfour Declaration by laying the basis for the industrial development of the country.
Mr. Rutenberg is considered the most powerful and energetic Jewish personality in Palestine. He has had a colorful career. He was a famous leader of the Socialist Revolutionary party in Russia. He was the commander of Petrograd in the days of the Kerensky government. Mr. Rutenberg during the summer, on behalf of the Jewish Agency carried on negotiations with the British government. He left however for Palestine when his proposals were turned down.
