The executive of the OSE has held an extraordinary session in Switzerland to discuss and enact a plan for combatting tuberculosis among the Jews of Europe, the American offices of the organization announced today.
The president of the Union OSE, Dr. Boris Tachlenoff, for many years a member of the faculty of the University of Berns and later director of tuberculosis sanitaria in France and Switzerland, gave the executive a detailed report on the operation of the OSE sanitarium in Davos, as well as on the negotiations currently being conducted with the Swiss Government for the establishment of other similar institutions in Switzerland, especially for the benefit of Jewish tuberculars from D.P. camps in Germany.
Professor Tschlonoff further stated that during the past weeks the OSE had received numerous appeals for help from Jewish communities in Hungary and Czechoslovakia and from groups in the camps of Germany and Austria, whose members were stricken with the disease. The work of the OSE in the fight against tuberculosis in Switzerland alone will require a budget of at least $300,000 for the next three months, Dr. Tschlenoff told the executive.
