The tearful confession of a young Polish boy that he had thrown a stone through the window of a church dignitary’s automobile today averted a possible attack on Jewish residents in the village of Nabilokie near Wilno.
The rock was thrown ostensibly from a Jewish house in the town, shattering the car-window of the Bishop of Wilno, who was visiting there. Despite the fact that he was uninjured, an angry crowd gathered, composed mostly of noisy youths who threatened to raid the building.
Not a moment too soon, a repentant lad was brought forward who admitted that he had hurled the missile, under the persuasion of several older boys. A number of them were arrested by police for seeking to provoke disorder.
