That the Polish embassy in London had intervened with the British foreign office regarding the suspension of immigration to Palestine was revealed here today. The Polish embassy had complained over the fact that 2,000 Polish Jews had liquidated their businesses with the intention of proceeding to Palestine and then had not had permission to go granted them.
The British foreign office replying to the protest today indicated that of the 1,500 immigration certificates recently released, Poland would probably receive over 1,000. At the same time the foreign office expressed surprise that so many Jews were able to liquidate their affairs in the two days that elapsed between the time the High Commissioner released the certificates last May and the time the Colonial Office suspended them.
