The Jewish Central Committee of Lodz is seeking a long-term loan for 50,000,000 zlotys from the government bank for converting the Scala theatre in Lodz into a cultural center for the Jewish community of Poland, it vas reported here today.
The committee is also hopeful of financial assistance from the Joint Distribution Committee and other Jewish groups. The Ministry for Culture and Art has already 4,000,000 zlotys to the committee to reconstruct the theatre, which was turned over to it by the municipality of Lodz.
