The possibility of Russia sending troops to the Middle Eastern front to help the British check the Nazi invasion and thus protect the approach to the Caucasus from the east was predicted by foreign observers here today. The troops, if sent, would proceed through Persia and Iraq to Syria and Palestine from where it is reported that the British Ninth and Tenth armies have already been withdrawn to the Egyptian battlefield.
