President Roosevelt is the most outstanding public figure in the world, according to the unanimous vote of one hundred journalism students at New York University. He heads the list of ten public leaders who were being rated from the standpoint of news values.
Hitler was voted as ranking second, with ninety-nine votes, and Mae West received the least number of votes, eleven.
Dr. Albert Einstein ranked third in a vote taken last year, and Hitler ninth.
In the order of their importance, the following were selected this year:
Lindbergh, ninety-one votes; Mussolini, seventy-eight; La Guardia, sixty-seven; General Johnson, sixty-five, Babe Ruth, thirty-five; Dollfuss, thirty-four; Greta Garbo, thirty-four; Alfred E. Smith, twenty-nine.
