President Johnson referred to the United Nations efforts to maintain peace in the Middle East when he addressed the General Assembly here today.
In summarizing the accomplishments of the United Nations, he told the 113 members of the world organization that “we have seen too much success to become obsessed with failure” and cited as one of those successes the fact that “the peace-keeping machinery of the United Nations has worked in the Congo, in the Middle East and elsewhere.”
The President took occasion to mention the fight for human rights which has been one of the main drives in the United Nations. “The struggle for human rights,” he declared, “has been gaining new force.”
