Private services were held yesterday for Mrs. Max D. Brill at her home, 40 Riverside Drive. Mrs. Brill died late Sunday night in Mount Sinai Hospital after a long illness. She was 56 years old.

The wife of a retired member of Brill Brothers, men’s clothiers, Mrs. Brill had been active philanthropically and politically for many years. She was chairman of the Women’s Republican Club’s publicity committee, and in 1928 was chairman of the women’s division of the Republican campaign organization for the election of Albert Ottinger as Governor of New York.

During the Coolidge Administration she received the personal thanks of the President for her assistance to his party.

Since 1928 Mrs. Brill had been a trustee of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropic Societies of New York. She was a founder of the Brightside Day Nursery, 89 Cannon Street.

Surviving her besides her husband are a son, D. Dudley Brill, of this city, and four daughters, Mrs. A. Edgar Aub of Cincinnati, Mrs. Jack Kugelman of Philadelphia and Mrs. Edward L. Steckler and Miss Madeline Brill of this city.
