Professor Albert Einstein has definitely decided to accept direction of the Physics Institute at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem despite reports yesterday that he had again reconsidered his decision, it was definitely learned today.
Professor Einstein agreed on June 18 to associate himself with the University and the board of governors agreed to institute certain reforms which Professor Einstein favored. Dr. Chaim Weizmann, president of the university, who is now in the United States, last week, unaware that Einstein had settled his differences with the university, criticized the noted scientist in a speech in New York.
Professor Einstein, it was learned, resented this criticism but was conciliated and this week, Dr. Weizmann, in Chicago, was able to announce that Dr. Einstein would proceed to Palestine to the Hebrew University.
The reports yesterday, it is believed, were based on a misunderstanding resulting from an exchange of cablegrams prior to Dr. Weizmann’s Chicago announcement Tuesday.
