James Goldschmidt, well-known Jewish-German jurist, who was invited to deliver a series of lectures for the University on the "Conception of Right," died here suddenly. He was 66. A native of Berlin, he was a professor of law at the Berlin University and the director of the Criminological Institute. After Hitler’s rise to power, he settled in Spain where he lectured at the universities of Madrid, Valencia, Saragossa and Madrid. At the outbreak of the Franco revolt, he left for the United States.
A special memorial meeting of the law faculty of the University was held here. Dr. Antonio Grampana, dean of the Faculty, delivered the memorial address.
