A proposal that the Rabbinical Assembly of the Jewish Theological Seminary of America raise a fund of ###5,000,000 for the purpose of conduction a campaign to strengthen traditional Judaism in America, was made ### the Convention of that body which opened its sessions here yesterday, by Rabbi Max Drob, in the course of his Presidential address.Explaining the position of the Rabbinical Assembly, which, he said, is not Reform nor hide-bound in Orthodoxy,” Rabbi Drob declared:
“Our Assembly must become militant. Believing as we do that our ###pe of Judaism is the only one which ###as any hope of perpetuating itself in America, we must bend every effort to convert every American Jew to our point of view. We need periodicals. Which shall be the organ for our views, and require propagandists to plead our ###use. The time has also come for to systematize and make possible ###e proper observance of Judaism. We ###e the logical body to undertake this ###gantic task of bringing order out of ###e chaos which now prevails in Sab###th observance, kashruth, Jewish education, and in charitable and social ###deavor. To accomplish this great ###rpose a large fund will be required ### make possible the growth of the ###minary and the United Synagogue. Therefore urge that this convention ###ke plans for a five million dollar ###paign for traditional Judaism. ###th such a fund at our disposal we’ll be able to take our rightful place American Jewish life.”
