Residents of Tel-Aviv, particularly of the northeastern section (Lev Tel-Aviv around the Merkaz Baalei Melacha), felt slight earthquake shocks that lasted about a second at 9:50 last night. There were five shocks in all, the last of which was the most powerful. The shocks did nothing more than shake windows, doors and furniture, while children in bed cried out they were being pushed from underneath. The direction of the seismic disturbance was from west to east, and apparently came from Egypt or a country further west.
The shocks were also felt in the surrounding colonies. At Rehoboth the length of the disturbance must have been at least five second. Other patts of Palestine report shocks of similar duration. No disturbance is reported from Tiberias. At Haifa and in Galilee the shocks occurred at 9.50 precisely.
In Cairo, a report states, similar shocks were experienced.
