Dr. Leo Baeck, the venerable 83-year-old honorary life president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism and former Liberal Chief Rabbi of Berlin, was named an honorary member of the Franz Delitzsch Society, during his visit to this city to deliver two lectures at the local University on “types of Jewish self-understanding during the past two centuries.” The types he selected included Moses Mendelssohn, Moses Hess, Walther Rathenau and Franz Rosenzweig.
