Rathenau Interpreted Post-war Germany, Say Statesmen in Eulogies

Walter Rathenau, late German Jewish statesman who was murdered by anti-Semites, was described as the interpreter of new Germany following the world war, at a memorial meeting at the Reichstag building Thursday night on the sixtieth anniversary of his birth.

Chancellor Marx, who was the main speaker at the memorial, declared that the period of Rathenau’s term in the German government as Minister of Foreign Affairs was the turning point in Germany’s international relations following the war. He ushered in a new epoch of international understanding.

Gerhardt Hauptmann paid tribute to the memory of Rathenau, declaring that he was Germany’s greatest patriot.

Jucob W. Freidman, elected Republican leader of the 2nd Assembly District, book office on Thursday succeeding the ## Collin S. Woodwani.

Mr. Friedman is assistant secretary to the Public Service Commission and was formerly minority leader in the Board of Aldermen. He served three terms in that body.
