Deprived of a share in the Winter Relief Campaign to be opened today by Reich Chancellor Hitler, Jews will conduct their own campaign for Winter relief with the permission of the government, according to a plan submitted to the authorities today by the Reichsvertretung, central representative body of Jews in Germany.
Approval of the plan by the Nazi Commissariat for Winter Relief is expected tomorrow.
The plan provides for special Jewish fund collections among Jews similar to the campaign to be waged among the Nazis, The larger Jewish communities will share part of their income with the smaller communities.
The Berlin Jewish Community Council declared that it would conduct its own campaign by visiting all Jewish houses, and also by soliciting Jewish firms to assign a percentage of their income for Jewish relief. Jews will also be urged to sacrifice one meal a month, contributing what it would cost to the relief fund.
