Ab Achimeir, Tel Aviv Revisionist, who was arrested last Monday evening for interfering with the police when they searched the room he had shared here with Abraham Stavsky, who is being held in connection with the assassination of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, Zionist labor leader, was freed today in magistrate’s court after payment of a fine of one pound and costs. His attorney explained that Achimeir’s actions and language to the police were the result of the great excitement he was laboring under at the time due to his fear that responsibility for the murder would be put upon the Revisionist party.
The 38-year-old Stavsky, who gained admission to this country only after Dr. Arlosoroff had intervened for him after he had been turned back at the frontier, was remanded into custody yesterday for a fifteen day period while police continued their investigation of the murder.
The British Labor party cabled condolences to the Palestine Labor Party over the loss of its noted leader. A delegation of Arab sheiks from Transjordania, visited the Jerusalem offices of the Jewish Agency for Palestine to express their regrets at the death of Dr. Arlosoroff and to express their hopes that the work of rapprochement between the Transjordanian population and the Jews, initiated by Dr. Arlosoroff would not be discontinued. A group of Kerak chieftains also telephoned expressions of their feelings to the Jewish Agency offices.
