With the entire world looking on in dread of another war of catastrophic proportions, the Nazi rebels, a group of whom yesterday assassinated Chancellor Dollfuss, spread the fires of revolt throughout Southern Austria today.

Guerilla warfare that had been carried on by isolated bands of the revolutionists today developed into regular pitched battles that ended disastrously for the Nazis.

Styria, where the Nazi forces, reinforced by farmers, have been waging their most desperate battles, saw approximately 300 dead with hundreds of others wounded. In that province the government forces for the first time unleashed their artillery with resulting disastrous losses to the rebels.
