The publication of a series of official records of ritual murders committed by Jews, written by M. Liebermann von Sonnenberg, with commentaries revised and annotated by Arthur Herbert Wolnziehn, is announced in the “Neue Zeitung”, the daily newspaper published by Deputy Richard Kunze, the notorious anti-Semitic agitator, known popularly as “Knuepfel” Kunze.
As a sort of introduction, the “Neue Zeitung”, tells the story this week of a 27 year old Jewish toy-dealer who suddenly appeared in the town of Perleberg and took his stand near the school. He did all sorts of things to gain the confidence of the children. Finally, he disappeared, taking with him a twelve-year-old boy named Gert Rueger, belonging to a prominent local family. There is no trace of the Jew or the boy, the paper concludes, adding the query, “another ritual murder victim?
