The contention of Zvi Rosenblatt, one of the three Revisionists, right wing Zionists, accused of the assassination last June of Dr. Chaim Arlosoroff, noted Zionist labor leader, that he was at Kfar-Saba on the night of the crime and not in Tel Aviv, scene of the murder, received strong corroboration today.
Joseph Canaani, a member of the Brith Trumpeldor, Revisionist youth organization, testifying for the defense before Magistrate Bodilly in Jaffa court today, declared he had taken the minutes of the meeting at Kfar-Saba which Rosenblatt asserted he had attended. Rosenblatt took part in the meeting, the witness declared. He swore that he had seen Rosenblatt there as late as ten-thirty at night. Rosenblatt, according to the prosecution charges, was at the Tel Aviv seashore (about fifteen miles away), where the murder was committed at exactly eleven o’clock. Rosenblatt is accused of the actual shooting of Dr. Arlosoroff.
Canaani was unable to state whether Rosenblatt attended the dance at Kfar-Saba which followed the Trumpeldor meeting. His testimony was considered important to the defense since the prosecution had made much of the fact earlier in the hearing that the minutes of the meeting had been mutilated and pages of the minute book torn out. The prosecution charged that references to Rosenblatt in the minutes of the meeting had been forged subsequent to his arrest.
The defense of the three Revisionists, Rosenblatt, Aba Achimeir and Abraham Stavsky, is now in the hands of Horace Samuel, noted British barrister of London, a former resident of this country. Samuel arrived here last week and attended earlier sessions of the hearing before taking over direction of the defense early this week.
