All necessary measures to prevent the growth of the Cuzist anti-Semitic movement have been adopted, declared under-secretary of state Angelescu in a statement to the press on yesterday’s clash between Cuzists and the Jewish population of Targufromos. The official communique issued on the incident established that a majority of those involved in the attack on the Jews were not students but that about eight of the Cuzists were injured. The authorities at Jassy have also taken action to prevent any disturbances in view of the excited feeling, while the national government has forbidden any demonstrations.
While returning with Professor Cuza from his successful parliamentary campaign, a group of his followers, passing through Targufromos, clashed with the Jewish population. In resisting the attacks, a number of the Cuzists were hurt and store windows were smashed.
