Chief Rabbi Alexander Schafran of Rumania has issued an appeal to Jews throughout the world, especially those in the United States, to provide the Jews in Rumania with prayer books, Bibles, phylacteries, prayer shawls, mozuzoth, Hebrew and Yiddish school books and other religious and educational materials.
He issued his appeal via the Paris office of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, adding that the need for spiritual reconstruction of Rumanian Jewry was of paramount importance at present.
