Three Lebanese political leaders, who returned yesterday to Beirut from an official visit to Russia, declared in a television interview that they were convinced that the Soviet government now favored a political solution to the Israel-Arab deadlock. Kamal Jumblatt, president of the Progressive Socialist party, former Premier Rachid Karame, and Raymond Edde, head of a rightwing nationalist bloc, agreed on that judgment during an interview with the Lebanese broadcasting service. They also expressed the belief that the Soviet Union now intended to use its influence in the Arab world for a compromise solution. They added that they had been told by all Soviet sources that Russia would not participate in any new Mideast armed conflict between the Arabs and Israel.
