Henry Shonfield, president of the Jewish Educational Alliance, disclosed today that, in response to an anonymous bomb scare telephone call, unusual security measures had been established for the institution.
He said these included installation of a complete system of outside spotlighting which bathes the building completely in light, eliminating all shadows, and around-the-clock police surveillance. Special security measures were established in March when the Nashville Community Center was bombed. These included checking the Alliance building daily each morning and provisions for police protection when the building had large meetings.
Mr. Shonfield said that the more stringent security measures “will remain in effect as long as it is deemed necessary by the officials of the Alliance.” He praised the cooperation of the Savannah police department.
