The action against schechita, foreshadowed by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency a few days ago, has now taken effect, An official announcement that all animals are to be stunned before slaughter, makes impossible the practice of schechita throughout Germany. It amounts to a virtual prohibition of schechita and thus fulfills one of the threats against German Jews frequently voiced in Nazi literature and propaganda.
