Secretary of State John Foster Dulles today conferred for a half-hour with Israel Embassy Minister Y. Herzog on developments in the Middle East in connection with the current tense situation.
Mr. Herzog called on Secretary Dulles in the absence of Israel Ambassador Abba Eban who was in New York in connection with Israel’s interests at the United Nations. Mr. Herzog said his conversation with Mr. Dulles today was supplementary to a talk Ambassador Eban had with the Secretary here last Monday.
(At the United Nations headquarters, Ambassador Eban conferred today with UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold, but the subject of their talk was not disclosed. Mr. Eban left UN headquarters before any announcement was made that he had been there.)
